Xtranormal
so I made my video on thursday the 1st at Jordan's. Later I tried to log in to post it, said to try later. I tried later and it says Hi "Mariah Swedlund", I'm confused... and its to early to make another. Good thing I'm gunna kick this test right in the pants! The vid I made was about dungeons and dragons and one character had a country accent.
First half of Video production
First off, I'm glad that the virtual story wasn't lame. It had lots of pics and examples that helped a lot. Um ya the time and location of the class is adequate. The professor dresses professionally and not in dresses. It is a good class, its fascinating for me learning about how all the gears turn behind a movie. It affects the way I see movies and I try to notice some of the techniques used. I thing colors are a big thing in children's movies. Just saw Dr S. the Lorax this weekend and noticed how all the "bad guys" were grey and dark toned. I liked hearing the kids comment on the movie too. Especially when the scene changes from colorful music number to dim, dark, and windy. There was no dialogue yet but you could see some "good guys" dragging there feet down a long lonely road. In front of me I could hear the little girl in her tiny 3D glasses feel how the film wanted her to feel but didn't know why, "daddy why are they all sad?" aka why do I feel sad with them?
HEY I KNOW! I'M IN A FILM CLASS lalalala. Well little girl its the vast and swift contrast in the colors, the longer camera shots, the quick change to slow character movement, shapes, lines, colors, tone ect... The cues direct you to empathize with the "good guys"
Im enjoying the info presented in the class, its all new and interesting to me. The Thursday interviews are always fun. Working with the lights trying to eliminate shadows and create a golden image is fun and challenging. Working with the camera angles trying to create interesting shots is great too. Soakin it all up in me lockbox.

Segunda 9 y 10
Reading about story structure and seeing the graphs about story intensity made me laugh. It reminded me of one of my fav vhs pieces name JURASSIC PARK. In JP I love how much suspense is in the whole movie. There are dinosaurs chasing people every where, all the time, and SPOILER, what the heck is up with the raptors frickin open doors. When it comes to that its game over no questions start the bus say your prayers good bye. I love how it is fast slow fast slow fast slow, take a deep breath oh wait not just yet. Then there is Grown Ups. Its an Adam Sandler movie with all the typical Sandler Shneider jokes and actors. It has little to no conflict in the whole movie. The last scene feels almost squeezed in and is as close as the story gets to conflict. I didn't say it wasn't a good movie but there was little internal conflict that was humorous and practically no physical conflict. It was funny but JP has a lot more intense conflict that creates a jagged story intensity graph (pg 227). Did I mention that I like Jurassic Park?

Shapes and lines, aka chap 4
WoooooRdLLe
Well well well, we meet agian. You think I'm pretty simple don't you? Thats not the case though. I have lines and shapes that you subtly recognize and sometimes don't consciously recognize. I have str8 lines that are horizontal, vertical, and even diagonal. My lines express all kinds of things. They help a scene or shot be peaceful, slow, relaxing, or stressful, painful, and suspenseful. The contrast of my lines convey emotion as well as the similarity of them. They are made up of physical things like walls, people, cars, horizons, and building's edges. Also by movements of people, vehicles, and animals; they leave virtual movement lines. My shapes also serve the same kind of purpose, (they are made up of lines you know). They convey emotions and moods through there contrast and affinity. All of this you don't even catch while watching me but the impact is still impressed and thats why I'm the best.
Sincerely,

Chapter THREE!!! Part uno and section two
What I first noticed about the reading was how extensive it was. But upon further inspection I noticed the text to picture ratio. I would put it at about, 1 to 6. Just like the first two chapters the more I read the more I began to understand. After reading about DEEEEEP EEP EEP EEP SSSSSSPACE SSS SSS SSS.... I WENT BAck and reread and it all started making more sense. Fun fact for ya (better know as 'tasty tid bit'), I also found that when reading out loud my attention is held better. Some of the lingo I had to get used to (like relative movement) and I have to reread most stuff for it to set in. I didn't really understand the 'point of perspective' stuff but when it started mentioning parallel lines it started to become clearer (unlike the phone call from my brother, he wanted to tell me a good idea he had before he forgot. The good idea was to prank call family members and try to get them to bail us out of jail). Im still amazed at the level of detail that goes into movies as I learn things like texural diffusion; and the fact that the screen is 2d but there is an 'Illusion' of 3d. Its not really 3d but it seams like it because of the depth cues, ya I said it and I'll say it again, depth cues.
So i think I'm getting this 'illusion' concept in my head and then 'Flat Space' is all like "Flat space is not an Illusion." (pg43) So no depth cues but, flat cues? Anyways, deep space and flat space are pretty different while limited space combines both cues (but not all). Then part 2 starts out with aspect ratio, its interesting but the pictures are a little dry. Its cool how surface divisions can set the mood or gauge the condition of a relationship. Closed and open space was kinda interesting. The complexity of setting up a scene or shot that feels like open space. And contrast and affinity is cool because you have to use it to help you tell your visual story.
These pictures I tried to focus on certain spacial cues

Flat space: no perspectives and texural affinity

Limited space: Size difference and focus makes it seem flatter

Ambiguous: well its hard to tell what is going on here

Wooooooordle
My mac told me that inspire means stimulate, motivate, encourage, influence, rouse, move, stir, energize, galvanize, incite; animate, fire, excite, spark, inspirit, incentivize, affect. See note at encourage. I did not see the note at encourage but I am fairly easily excited and energized. I get pumped when I watch the national geographic channel at 2:00 in the morning and see how amazing the world that God created is. How detailed and different he made each biosphere. Watching it all makes me want to strap on a helmet and explore the miles of underground caves like the cameras do on t.v. I am in awe by the diversity of creatures God made and the uniqueness of each. I also get energized by being with my friends and sharing in their passions. Whether its playing video games, guns, cars, or getting drinks at speedway. I'm also motivated and influenced by the spontaneity of a experiences.
